Demarcating Dawn

If I age to near century,

these eyes will see three thousand times the sunrises.

So then why does today’s look so different?

Was it a solar flare?

A planetary shift?

A cosmic contusion?

Nay, it must just be the one thing.

Today I woke as an infant once more,

as if my life was regifted again.

Though I am but one of billions,

the cadence of my living is greater.

Segments that when laid adjacent,

do nothing but deepen the contrasts.

Is Spring aware it came last year?

No, it simply follows Winter

in this dance we call the seasons.

It is in like fashion I sway and cobble.

I have frosted, I have melted.

I have destroyed, I have healed.

I have loved, I have hated.

I am now, I have been.

Though to you my life may appear,

as one great whole.

Believe me when I say

it has never been lived that way.
